In 2024, this course will be delivered primarily on campus, with some online accessibility as lectures will be recorded. While most students will attend on campus, the course can be completed online if needed and with permission of the Course Coordinator.
Course learning objectives
Students who pass this course should be able to:
Develop an understanding of the historical, social, and cultural landscapes of selected capital cities;
Critically engage with primary and secondary sources related to those capital cities and their historical, social, and cultural contexts;
Undertake independent research into various historical, social, and cultural aspects of the capital cities covered in the course.

Class representative
The class representative provides a useful way to communicate feedback to the teaching staff during the course. They also work with the VUWSA Education Office on any academic issues that arise in their course. Reps are elected by students by the third week of classes every trimester. Being a rep requires a weekly commitment.
