When to start

Trimester 1
Trimester 1 starts near the end of February each year. You can start almost all of our programmes in this trimester.

Trimester 2
Start your studies in July—more than 60 of our programmes welcome new students in Trimester 2, and there are nearly 900 courses on offer.

Trimester 3
Trimester 3 is the summer trimester. Explore new interests, expand your knowledge, or fast-track your qualification.

Pre-degree programmes
Studying a pre-degree diploma is a great way to get started if you haven't achieved University Entrance and need to strengthen your academic skills.

Enrolling in a single course
Pursue your passion, gain new skills, or build on your studies by enrolling in one or two courses through the University’s Certificate of Proficiency.

VicStart programme
If you’re a Year 12, or 13 student, VicStart enables you to take first year university courses while you’re still at school.

Professional development courses and micro-credentials
You can develop your professional skills, improve workplace capability, and enhance your employability by studying with Wellington Uni-Professional.

Certificate in Deaf Studies
If you're already a fluent user of NZSL, you can learn how to teach your language to others during this two year, part-time certificate (UE not required).
