Best New Zealand Poems in translation
Wai-te-ata Press collaborates with the New Zealand Centre for Literary Translation (NZCLT) to introduce international readers to vibrant New Zealand voices.
About Best New Zealand Poems: The NZCLT Collection
Ōrongohau | Best New Zealand Poems is published annually by Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington’s International Institute of Modern Letters. It aims to introduce readers—especially internationally—to leading contemporary New Zealand poets. The poems are chosen to show the vitality and range of current writing.
Since 2014, each annual volume has been translated into a different language by Literary Translation Studies postgraduate students at the School of Languages of Cultures and published by Wai-te-ata Press as a bilingual print edition. These bilingual editions are creative ambassadors for Aotearoa voices and facilitate international literary exchange.
This ongoing translation series is known as The NZCLT Collection, in acknowledgment of the generous support from the New Zealand Centre for Literary Translation.
