Psychology –
Study Psychology to understand behaviour—how we think, feel, and act—and how those processes can go wrong. Learn how our biology and our environment interact to make us who we are.
At Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington, we offer a wide range of different Psychology subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Choose a subject to focus on and see what your study options are.
Learn to assess and treat people with mental illness and emotional or behavioural problems, and to promote psychological health.
Study clinical psychological science and examine how this guides approaches to therapy. You'll observe psychologists in clinical practice and gain practical experience in a range of settings, including district health boards, the Department of Corrections, and private practice. Learn how to achieve excellence in clinical practice in a way that is compassionate and respectful of others.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology (PGDipClinPsyc) is a professional course of study that means you'll be able to register and practise as a clinical psychologist in New Zealand and overseas. You need to study for your PGDipClinPsyc at the same time as completing a Master's in Science (MSc), one of the specialist MSc Psychology programmes, or a PhD.
You'll need to apply for entry into this programme as places are strictly limited.
