Earth’s natural resources are under increasing pressure. Learn the causes of environmental problems and discover pathways to make our actions more sustainable.
Choose which subject within the Climate and the Environment area of study is right for you, and start your journey at Victoria University of Wellington.
Environmental Science is about how humans connect with and change the natural environment. Gain an understanding of this relationship, drawing on a range of sciences including biology, chemistry, geography, maths and physics.
The state of the planet is one of the biggest issues facing humankind today. Learn to assess environmental problems and find solutions. Explore possible ways to manage and lessen our impact on the environment. Consider the big questions such as: How do we slow climate change? How do we improve biodiversity? How clean and green is New Zealand?
At the University you'll get a hands-on experience. As you progress you'll have the opportunity to develop your own projects, analyse your own data and present your results.

You’ll be able to take advantage of teaching and research input from the University’s own Climate Change Research Institute and Antarctic Research Centre, as well as from local crown research institute staff.
If you’re passionate about making a difference to the environment and want to learn the science behind the issues, you should consider Environmental Science.
