Now you’ve chosen a degree, you need to do a bit of planning. Find out what courses you need to take to complete a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom).

You’ll need to complete both the degree requirements for the BCom and the requirements for at least one major. If a course is listed under both sets of requirements, you only need to do it once.

Degree requirements

For this degree you'll need to:

  • Complete at least 360 points, of which:

    • At least 210 points must be from courses listed for the BCom

    • At least 180 points must be at 200 and 300 level

      • Of these 180 points, at least 75 points must be at 300 level
        • Of these 75 points, at least 45 points must be from courses listed for the BCom
  • First year—complete five core courses:

    • Three courses from:

  • Satisfy the requirements for at least one major (see below)

Important information

  • Some of the 100-level courses listed in the BCom degree requirements are also listed under the requirements for a major. You only need to complete these courses once.
  • Subjects in the BCom with specific minor requirements include Actuarial Science, Banking, Data Science, Econometrics, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Sustainability and Ethics in Business, and Tourism Management.
  • Make sure you check the prerequisites for all 200- and 300-level courses you are planning to do in your degree. Make sure your choices will cover those requirements.
  • 300-level courses may only be counted towards one major or minor. There's one exception—if you're completing a double major in Marketing and Marketing Communication, you may count MARK 301 towards both majors.
