Information for staff

Find tips, resources and inclusive strategies you can use in your everyday work to support students with disabilities.

The University is committed to equity of opportunity for all students and promotion of inclusion through valuing diversity.

This commitment is outlined in the University’s Strategic Plan, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Framework and the Meeting the Needs of Students with Impairments Policy. Implementation guidance on current priorities is outlined in the University's Disability Action Plan. It is guided by the Human Rights Act 1993, New Zealand Disability Strategy and Kia Orite—Achieving Equity.

This commitment provides a strong foundation to the work the University and Te Amaru—Disability Services does to ensure students with disabilities are able to fully participate in University life and realise their aspirations and potential.

Disability Services' work with staff focuses on enhancing the disability awareness of the University community, providing advice on inclusive built spaces, teaching and learning, technological systems, policies and practice. We also provide recommendations on reasonable accommodations in order to meet the needs of specific students.

We respect the expertise that staff have and welcome the sharing of inclusive approaches and ideas.

Inclusive learning tools
