Course learning objectives

Students who pass this course should be able to:

  1. Describe key themes and concepts in New Zealand art.

  2. Understand the historical and contemporary significance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to New Zealand art.

  3. Understand and interpret the art of this region within relevant social, political and theoretical contexts.

  4. Critically analyse and evaluate art exhibitions and related materials.

  5. Plan and execute an independent research project on a topic in Aotearoa New Zealand art.

Class representative

The class representative provides a useful way to communicate feedback to the teaching staff during the course. They also work with the VUWSA Education Office on any academic issues that arise in their course. Reps are elected by students by the third week of classes every trimester. Being a rep requires a weekly commitment.
