Opening of the Centre

The Opening of the New Zealand Contemporary China Research Centre

Date: 14 April 2009

The establishment of the Centre is supported by funding from the New Zealand Tertiary Education Commission and Victoria University of Wellington. The Centre is led by Victoria University of Wellington in partnership with Otago University, University of Canterbury, and Auckland University of Technology, and University of Waikato (New Zealand University Members). Victoria University of Wellington serves as the host for the Centre.

After two years of preparation ground work, the Centre was formally opened on 14 April, 2009, by Hon. Dr Wayne Mapp, Minister of Research, Science and Technology, and Associate Minister of Tertiary Education, Professor Pat Walsh, Vice Chancellor of Victoria University of Wellington, and Professor Neil Quigley, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research), Victoria University of Wellington.
