Course content

We will complete our survey of the foundational grammar of Latin using the Oxford Latin Course then move on to selected passages of "real" Latin. Grammar to be covered includes indirect statements, infinitives, result clauses, conditional clauses, gerunds and gerundives, subjunctives in main clauses, fear clauses, relatives with the subjunctive, and the predicative dative.

Course learning objectives

Students who pass this course should be able to:

  1. demonstrate increased understanding of the Latin language;

  2. read Latin with greater fluency;

  3. show growing knowledge and critical appreciation of Latin literature.

Class representative

The class representative provides a useful way to communicate feedback to the teaching staff during the course. They also work with the VUWSA Education Office on any academic issues that arise in their course. Reps are elected by students by the third week of classes every trimester. Being a rep requires a weekly commitment.
