Psychology

Study towards Aotearoa New Zealand’s only Bachelor of Psychology and help address some of the biggest issues facing the world today. By studying Psychology in Wellington, you’ll learn the skills to be part of positive, transformative change, from staff who are leading voices in areas such as crime prevention and rehabilitation, mental health, cultural psychology, and brain sciences.

As the place where Aotearoa’s decision-making happens, Wellington offers unique access to the workings of Government, including Te Whatu Ora, the Ministry of Social Development and the Departments of Justice and Corrections. It’s the country’s science capital too, with the highest concentration of research institutions anywhere in New Zealand.

The programme is led by staff from the School of Psychology, which is among the top 150 globally (2023 QS World University Rankings). Our staff are leading researchers of both fundamental and applied psychological science—you’ll be taught by people at the top of their game.

Recommended school subjects

You can enrol in the BPsyc no matter what you studied at school. Some experience with Statistics is recommended, although not required.

Degree requirements

Three years of full-time study. A total of 360 points is required.
