Postgraduate allowance
If you are a postgraduate student funded by a Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship, you can get a contribution towards some of the costs of your thesis and research.
Postgraduate research allowance
If you are carrying out research which is a mandatory component of your qualification, and worth at least 90 credits, you can apply for up to $1000 towards research costs. You will apply for this in conjunction with your home-located research plan.
Postgraduate thesis allowance
The thesis allowance, for Manaaki New Zealand Scholars only, is a contribution towards the cost of proofreading, printing and binding your Master’s or PhD research thesis—it may not necessarily cover all related expenses.
As well as the allowance, there is free support available at Victoria University of Wellington, including workshops and seminars run by Student Learning and the Faculty of Graduate Research.
