In an emergency, call 111
Ask for help in an emergency by calling 111, where you can be connected to fire, police, or ambulance services.
Help on campus
Call Campus Security on 0800 842 8888 if you need help on campus. They look after campus security.
Save this number in your phone to ensure that you’re able to find it if necessary.

When you’re out and about, be aware of what’s happening around you.

Guidance for emergencies
Emergencies that could affect you while you are at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington include earthquakes, fires, accidents, tsunami (if you are by the coast), or severe weather.
One or more of the following events may be as a result of, or driven by, another event. For example, an earthquake may cause electricity failure which in turn may cause people to become trapped in a lift.

Be prepared
Being prepared for an emergency can help you and the people around you. Here’s a few tips to help you prepare:
- Make sure your family, flatmates, fellow hall residents, and friends know how to contact you.
- Consider pre-arranging an emergency meeting place with your friends, flatmates, or friends.
- Keep an emergency kit ready and easily accessible at home in case you need to leave quickly.
