Experiential activities

Experiential activities are a crucial part of WILP. From language learning to international placements, there are opportunities to suit you.

The Experiential Activities component of WILP encourages you to participate actively in internationalisation opportunities at home and abroad, beyond seminars and speaker events. In the current climate, many of these opportunities are available for students studying offshore.

Some example opportunities you can opt to participate in include the following:

  • Go on Wellington Global Exchange, and do a trimester or year-long student exchange in one of our partner institutions in over 100 countries. If you opt to do this, WILP can help you pay for it with a WILP grant worth up to $1,000.
  • Learn a language at Victoria University of Wellington, such as Spanish, Chinese, Te Reo Māori, Italian, French, Japanese, German, or Sāmoan
  • Complete an internship with an international, intercultural, or sustainable development connection through one of the University's internship programmes or organise one independently.
  • Teach English to refugees and migrants in your local community.
  • Become a Language Learning Centre buddy or participate in the International Buddy Programme (available virtually)
  • Participate in sustainability activities such as Growing Our Futures, Green Impact and the Global Enterprise Experience.
