Taking effective digital notes
Learn some digital tools to take notes.
More and more university students are choosing to take notes on a laptop or other digital device. Recently, as part of a GrowME project facilitated by Victoria University of Wellington’s Careers and Employment Team, a group of current students surveyed their friends and classmates to find out more about how they take notes digitally. Here you’ll find a list of tools for taking digital notes, as recommended by our students.

OneNote
OneNote is essentially an electronic notebook for collecting, organizing and sharing digital information.

Word
Due to its widespread familiarity, Word is an easy programme to access and use for note-taking.

PowerPoint
PowerPoint is a programme which creates slideshows. Many lecturers use slides when giving their lectures.

Google Docs
Google Docs is a web-based software programme offered by Google within its Google Drive service.
