Profile
I was born in Hollywood, California and grew up in the sprawling, multilingual suburbs of Los Angeles. Since 2007, my husband, our daughter and I have called Wellington home. I have a particular interest in the history of ideas and I love to teach. My doctoral research was on early modern science in colonial Spanish America between 1550 and 1700, and my most recent project involved the translation of a series of letters written in the 1660s by a science hobbyist. I have taught Spanish language courses at universities in the US and here at the School of Languages and Cultures. I have also tutored for the History programme and for interdisciplinary FHSS courses.
In my current role as a Learning Advisor, I work with both undergraduates and postgraduates to plan and revise their writing and presentations. I also deliver the Grammar Workshop cycle and contribute to developing the accessibility of learning resources. I'm passionate about helping students at Te Herenga Waka to achieve their academic goals and to do their best work.
