Welcome from the Head of the School of Marketing and International Business.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the School of Marketing and International Business (SMIB). We boast a vibrant and lively staff complement who are committed to excellence in all they do – in teaching, research and in the support we provide for our students.

We offer programmes and courses in both Marketing and International Business, ranging from undergraduate level, through Honours and Masters, up till PhD level.

Our integrated approach to our teaching and research ensures that we provide courses that are up to date and relevant, addressing issues that are important to the business community and society, while upholding the rigour of top quality research.

By close cooperation with the local business community and through our many international research collaborations we are able to address both local and global issues, thereby providing our students with the opportunity to appreciate the challenges that face different types of businesses, and also the ebb and flow of global influence on the local business culture. This helps to ensure that our graduates possess the marketing and international business knowledge and expertise that equips them to participate meaningfully in the current business environment.

In addition, our capital city location, situated in close proximity to Asia, provides us with the ability to appreciate the benefits and challenges of doing business with different cultural and national groups - an essential consideration for most modern business people.
