Teresia Teaiwa's poem 'Mother' translated into 30 languages
On National Poetry Day on 24 August, the School of Languages and Cultures, in collaboration with NEKE—The New Zealand Journal of Translation Studies, remembered Teresia Teaiwa. She was a true champion of indigenous studies and an ambassador of linguistic and cultural diversity.
One of Teresia's poems, Mother, has been translated in over 30 languages to create a living document—Multilingual Mother. The work includes a special tribute to Teresia authored by her friend and current New Zealand Poet Laureate, Selina Tusitala Marsh.
