PhD application process
Important information for anyone applying for PhD study in the School of Information Management.
Eligibility check
Your first step is to provide transcripts and grades of previous degree(s).
The PhD Programme Director will then provide an indication of your doctoral scholarship eligibility (minimum GPA of 6 on a VUW scale).
Research topic and supervision
You need to outline your proposed research topic. To make sure your topic aligns with the interests of potential supervisors, please explore staff profiles and research areas. Your potential supervisor may help you refine your topic.
Application process
Apply via the Faculty of Graduate Reasearch.
Deadlines: 1 March, 1 July, 1 November. Assessment takes approximately six weeks.
Funding and costs
You should aim to secure substantial external funding. Scholarships are limited and competitive. International students cannot study part-time.
Admission criteria
- GPA of 6 or higher in a qualifying degree.
- Academic referee reports are required.
- English proficiency: IELTS 6.5 overall (no band below 6)
