Information about applying to become a tutor at the School of Information Management.
Tutors are an integral part of course delivery and provide a fundamental and supportive link between lecturers and students. We’re looking for passionate 200 to 300-level students, postgraduate students, and BCom/BSc graduates with a major in Information Systems (or Data Science for DATA101) who have preferably obtained a grade of B+ or higher in the courses they would like to tutor.
Applications for Trimester 1, 2024 are now open. We are also happy to receive expressions of interest for tutoring in Trimester 2 and 3, 2024.

Experienced tutors also have the opportunity to progress their role into a Head Tutor position which offers more experience and a higher pay rate.
The following mandatory paid training is provided (hours might vary):
Most courses will have a Head Tutor who will be available to support tutors in any of the tutoring tasks.
Tutors are contracted each trimester to take two to four tutorial/workshop groups in a course. Contracts start the week before trimester starts and conclude at the end of the assessment period. Tutorials/workshops start in week one or two of the trimester depending on the type of course. All tutors need to be available during the week before the trimester begins for training and orientation, and the first meeting with the course coordinator and other tutors can occur before the trimester starts.
Tutorials/workshops for 100-level courses are held at the Kelburn Campus. All 200- and 300- level tutorials and workshops are held at the Pipitea Campus.
