Geography students from our department played a leading role at the New Zealand Geographical Society conference in Napier, Dec 1-3. Along with being one of the largest student contingents at the conference, they stood out and received the Best Geography Master Thesis Award (Anne-Marie Snider) and Best Student Presentation (Gradon Diprose).
The Victoria Professor from the School of Geography, Environment and Earth Sciences was awarded one of four prestigious James Cook Research Fellowships providing funding of $110,000 for each of the next two years.
Two scientists from the University of Exeter in the UK, working in collaboration with Victoria University of Wellington are currently visiting New Zealand to undertake fieldwork on a new project that eventually aims to study how New Zealand’s climate has changed over the past 10,000 years.
