Rosie Stack
Meet Rosie, one of our Art History students currently working towards her Bachelor of Arts.
Rosie is in the final year of her bachelor of arts degree at Victoria University, in which she’s majoring in art history and sociology, with a minor in philosophy. Although she enjoys sociology and philosophy, art history is her passion and she finds an understanding of sociological and philosophical theory useful when interpreting and writing about art works and movements. Apart from her studies, Rosie is involved in the rich creative culture of Wellington, gaining volunteer and internship experience at the university’s Adam Art Gallery and working at one of the city's dealer galleries. Rosie enjoys the regular lectures and events held at Te Papa, the Wellington City Gallery and smaller independent galleries, which have helped introduce her to artists and ideas outside of her immediate study. Rosie finds the study of art history special in its ability to offer insight into the individual, society and history, and loves the perceptive and beautiful understanding of the world the subject encourages. Long term, Rosie is inspired by pursuing a career in curatorship and is interested in collaborating with artists and museums on exhibitions or projects which will enrich people's understanding and perception of the world. She is planning on studying Honours at Victoria University in 2021, and completing further postgraduate study following that.
