Thesis Title: Lanthanide Nitrides for Magnetic Devices
Supervisor(s):Joe Trodahl and Ben Ruck
I am investigating magnetic multilayers made of rare-earth nitrides for use as memory elements in the next generation of cloud data storage. The widely focused study will include the fundamentals of the data writing and reading procedures and the long-term unpowered data retention. The study will build on my experience investigating the properties of rare-earth nitrides by optical, magnetic and electrical means over the past two years. I will work closely with Bob Buckley and Will Holmes-Hewett (in addition to my supervisors).
