Shayle Searle Prize in Statistics

This prize was established in 1998 by Dr Shayle R Searle through the U.S. Friends of Victoria and the Victoria University Foundation in appreciation of his 1950 Victoria University M.A. in Mathematics having been of lasting value to his 1962 - 1995 career as Professor of Biological Statistics in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., U.S.A.
1. The prize shall be known as the Shayle Searle Prize in Statistics.
2. The prize shall be awarded annually to the student who, in the opinion of the Head of the School of Mathematical and Computing Science, is the best student taking STAT 193.
3. The value of the prize shall be determined by the Victoria University Foundation after consideration of the income from the fund and is expected to be approximately $250.
4. The balance of the income not expended shall be added to the fund.
5. Recipients will be asked to write a letter of appreciation which will be forwarded to the donor's family (Dr Searle died in 2013.)
