Rotary Club of Wellington Science Prizes
Information
In 1999, in order to mark the University's centennial, the Rotary Club of Wellington endowed nine prizes via the Victoria University Foundation for first-year science study. The prizes are offered in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geography, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology, and Statistics.
1. The prizes shall be known respectively as the Rotary Club of Wellington Science Prizes in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geography, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology, and Statistics.
2. The prizes shall be awarded annually by the Academic Board on the recommendation of the Heads of the Schools or other academic units that are responsible for teaching and examining in the subjects of the prizes.
3. Each prize shall be awarded to the student who has achieved the best overall performance in the subject in question in courses aggregating at least 30 points.
4. In making their recommendations, Heads of School shall take account of performance in 100-level courses, except that if any candidate has been accorded direct entry into a 200-level course the Head of School shall take account of the performance of that candidate in any such course or courses.
5. The annual value of each prize will be subject to funds available.
6. Two or more Rotary Club of Wellington Science Prizes may be won by the same candidate, and the prizes may be won in the same year as any other prize that a candidate may win.
7. Recipients will be asked to write a letter of appreciation which will be forwarded to the donor.
