Macmorran Prize for Mathematics
Information
This prize arose from a bequest in 1939 through the will of Mrs Margaret Macmorran. In 1948, the fund was increased by a gift from Mr R C Macmorran. In 1961, a further sum was bequeathed in by Mrs Maggie Usher. And in 2024, an additional gift was donated from the estate of Hamish Macmorran.
The prize is awarded annually to the best student completing 45 points of 200-level mathematics courses.
The value of the prize is determined after consideration of the income from the fund. The balance of income not expended shall be added to the fund.
Recipients are encouraged to spend part of the prize money on a book, or books.
Recipients will be asked to write a letter of thanks, which will be forwarded appropriately.
