The Award was set up by the family and friends of Jenny Whitmarsh (1946-1996), a graduate in mathematics and linguistics, in recognition of her desire to encourage the careers of young women in mathematics and science.

Eligibility

The Award will be granted annually to a student enrolled in at least 44 points of 200-level MATH who is considered, by the Head of School of Mathematical and Computing Sciences, to be the best female student of the year and who is continuing on to the study of 300-level mathematics. The value of the award shall be determined each year by the VUW Foundation after consideration of the income from the capital fund, and shall be payable in cash.
