Species endemic to isolated islands are often larger or smaller than their mainland counterparts. They are also unusually vulnerable to invasive species and global climate change. Yes islands can be safe havens, ensuring a future for species threatened by introduced species. Our researchers have been at the forefront
of studying the effects of evolution on island populations, as well as pioneering advances in the translocation of species, such as kiwi and tuatara, to and from islands.
