Profile

Athalia Ariati Hidayat is a PhD student in Accounting at the School of Accounting and Commercial Law. Her PhD research investigates the long-run accounting performance of divestment restructuring decisions and its value relevance. A company not only needs to expand but also needs to re-evaluate its current operations should the removal of some parts of the business be necessary.

Given that divestment is a complex and risky process, her research aims to shed light on the long-run performance effect for the companies involved, and how investors perceive the accounting information from a divestment strategy.

Her study is funded by the Wellington Doctoral Scholarship. Prior to joining the PhD program, Athalia was a lecturer with over eight years of experience in the Accounting Undergraduate Program at Universitas Prasetiya Mulya, Indonesia.
