Scott Ussher
Scott Ussher is the Manager of Research and Evaluation at the Ministry of Social Development. Scott has extensive experience in public service and has worked as a manager and a senior analyst at a range of agencies including Stats NZ, the Families Commission, and the Ministry of Education. He has a background in statistics, and has led and undertaken analytical projects across the NZ public sector.
Scott is passionate about using data, statistics, and research to improve the wellbeing of New Zealanders. His work has covered a range of social areas, including social connectedness, subjective wellbeing, Māori wellbeing, and mental health. Most recently he led the introduction of child poverty measurement at Stats NZ.
