Len Cook
Len Cook is currently a member of the Remuneration Authority. Throughout his career, he has held many consequential positions.
From 1971 to 1991, Len worked for Statistics New Zealand in a variety of roles. From 1992 to 2000, he was Government Statistician of New Zealand, and from 2000 to 2005 the National Statistician of the United Kingdom.
From 2015 to 2018, Len was the Families Commissioner and Chair of the board of Superu (the Social Policy Research and Evaluation Unit).
Other roles that Len has filled include President of the Institute of Public Administration NZ (2009 to 2013), member of the NZ Royal Commission on Social Policy (1987 to 1988), and Vice President of the International Statistics Institute (2005 to 2009).
Len's longstanding interests are in the areas of population change and public policy, public administration, official statistics, and the place of science in policy. More recently, he has focused on accountability and the justice system.
