New Zealand
National Cross-sector Restorative Practice Network
This high-level cross-sector network was established in 2020 to bring agency representatives together to engage and discuss work programmes; to share learnings, research and evaluation; and to provide a forum to test ideas and seek feedback for restorative practices that are led by different agencies.
The network is advisory in nature and adds value by providing a forum to improve cross-agency understandings of what’s happening across Aotearoa. The RPN brings together representatives from the Department of Corrections, New Zealand Police, Ministry for Business , Innovation and Employment, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Justice, Office of the Chief Victims Advisory, Oranga Tamariki Ministry for Children, Resolution Institute, Restorative Practices Aotearoa and the Diana Unwin Chair in Restorative Justice from Te Ngāpara Centre for Restorative Practice at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.
For information contact the Criminal Resolutions teams within the Ministry of Justice.
Oceania specialist network for sexual violence & restorative practice
We are inaugural members of this trans-Tasman network that supports those working to use restorative justice practices after sexual violence. The Network was established in 2021 as a partnership between Project Restore (New Zealand), Te Ngapara Centre for Restorative Practice (VUW), Centre for Innovative Justice (RMIT, Australia) and Transforming Justice Australia.
Membership has since grown, for further information contact Dr Jane Bolitho.
National Collaborative for Restorative Initiatives in Health
We contribute to the National Collaborative for Restorative Initiatives in Health. The Collaborative was established in 2020 to nurture and guide the development of restorative initiatives within the health and disability system. It is made up of representatives from national agencies within the health and disability system, kaumātua and kuia, as well as consumers and clinicians who have lived experience of health care harm.
You can find more information about the work of the Collaborative here. For information on the Collaborative please contact jo.wailling@vuw.ac.nz, PhD Candidate, Faculty of Health.
