Society for Conservation Biology
The conservation biology chapter provides local projects for students and staff and supports local community projects.
The Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) is an international professional organisation dedicated to promoting the scientific study of the phenomena that affect the maintenance, loss, and restoration of biological diversity.
Our local chapter is based at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington and we are heavily involved in conservation projects in and around the Greater Wellington Region.
Our main projects include:
- Places for Penguins—restoration of little blue penguin habitat, construction and placement of nesting boxes, and penguin monitoring
- Kumutoto Restoration—an ecological restoration project just down the road by the tennis courts.
