MAOR 316 - Torangapu Maori/Maori Politics
MAOR 316 examines a range of Māori political structures, movements, ideologies and visions.
Years of occupation
This assignment saw groups of students given a particular year and asked to locate and research protest occupations in that year. This research is displayed using Google Earth, and juxtaposed with a tribal boundaries map. Students describe Crown actions to confiscate or sell land, and discuss the motivations of local Māori to occupy their ancestral lands. The map highlights the ongoing physical connection of Māori with the land.
