MAOR 123 - Te Iwi Māori me ana Tikanga/Māori Society and Culture

MAOR123 introduces students to a broad range of Māori beliefs, concepts and structures that are important to the foundations and development of Māori society and culture.

Geo-biographies

In this assignment students selected one of the poupou (carved figures) from within the carved meeting house, Te Tumu Herenga Waka, at Victoria University of Wellington. They researched three significant events in the life of that ancestor and located these on paper and electronic maps of Aotearoa and the Pacific Ocean. Students’ map-based biographies were compiled using Google Earth. 18 student projects from 2010 are shown here.
