Connect with our student groups—Ngāi Tauira is the association for all Māori students, and there are also subject-specific groups.

Ngāi Tauira

Ngāi Tauira—Māori Students Association represents the interests of tauira Māori studying at the University. Ngāi Tauira provides:

  • advocacy and support
  • information about scholarships and funding
  • student representation on academic boards and councils
  • national representation
  • social networking
  • pastoral support.

Being involved with Ngāi Tauira is a fantastic way to make new friends, create new opportunities, get involved with community on campus, and learn about your identity as a Māori student at a New Zealand tertiary institution.

Ngā Taura Umanga

Ngā Taura Umanga—Māori Commerce plays a key role in developing strong relationships between Māori students, staff, and alumni. Ngā Taura Umanga organise social and networking events, participate in national hui, and have access to scholarships and other information that will encourage and assist you along your path as a Māori in the business world.

Ngā Rangahautira

Ngā Rangahautira - Māori Law Students’ Society is a group who are passionate about developing skilled Māori law students with a commitment to kaupapa Maori. Ngā Rangahautira organise social, academic, cultural, and political activities for Māori students throughout their degree providing opportunity to engage with the community, network with practising Māori lawyers, and develop as a Māori professional.

MAI ki Pōneke

MAI ki Pōneke is a network for Māori and indigenous postgraduate students. MAI ki Poneke provides advice, support and information as well as running a variety of study-related workshop, and inviting Māori PhD graduates and academics to come and speak about their experiences.
