Ngā mahi ki te Pā—Site works

At the north end of the site, the team is starting to remove the scaffolding and install the timber cladding. Looking at the Murphy end of the building, you can start to get a sense of what the building will look like when complete.

On the western side of the site (hidden from public view) the team is beginning to put some of the heavier landscaping elements in. This includes huge, engineered timber planter boxes full of gravel. These will be craned onto a roller and positioned along the façade of the building. The same thing will happen on the Kelburn Parade side.

On the roof you’ll see the team fitting the outrigger PV arrays onto their framing, with the entire roof to be covered in PVs over the next month. The roof has also been covered in an insulated watertight membrane to capture rainwater for potable use in the building. These farrays will ensure that the building meets its Living Building goals.

Inside the building, it’s all go! First fix services are nearly complete, and flooring is being placed.

Disruptive works – Crane removal

Weather dependent, L.T. McGuinness will be disassembling and removing the tower crane from the construction site on Friday 26th April and Saturday 27th April.  Notably, Thursday 25 April is ANZAC Day, a public holiday.

This will result in a one–lane road closure on Kelburn Parade which will occur from 5 am–5 pm. Only one car–width can drive through. Stop / Go signs will be utilised throughout the day to direct traffic and pedestrians safely.

Buses will be running as normal but are expected to be disrupted due to this road closure.

All neighbours will receive a mail drop a couple of weeks prior.

When this is complete, the skylights and final façade elements will be installed making the building watertight.

Tūnga Pahi—Bus Stop

We are delighted that the new bus stop is now complete and being well-used. Thank you very much for your patience during this part of the project, managed by Wellington Regional Council.
