William Martin (1807?-1880) Auckland Supreme Court February 1842-June 1857. Chief Justice 1842-1855. See the Dictionary of New Zealand Biography for further information.

Henry Samuel Chapman (1803-1881) Wellington Supreme Court 1843 – March 1852; sat in Dunedin and Invercargill from 1864-1875. See the Dictionary of New Zealand Biography for further information.

Sidney Stephen (1797-1858) Otago Supreme Court June 1851 - October 1852, no cases were heard. He also presided over the Supreme Court in Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch, Auckland June 1852-November 1857. Appointed as Chief Justice from 1855-1857. Thomas Bannatyne Gilles (1828-1889) Supreme Court at Auckland 1875-1889. Gilles was the first appointee to the Supreme Court who had been admitted to the profession through local law examinations. See the Dictionary of New Zealand Biography for further information.
