Access to research funding

There are a variety of sources of internal funding for both the MA and PhD programmes. Find out more about research funding at this university.

Internal funding is sometimes offered through the School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies. These internal funding opportunities are typically provided through an individual staff member’s research grant funding.

Individual staff research grants are used to hire research and teaching assistants on a temporary basis. Just being a doctoral student is no guarantee that you will be funded as a research or teaching assistant while you study.

We encourage all prospective students to carefully consider funding and include potential sources of funding in any discussion with potential supervisors. Very occasionally, large external grants might also support thesis students by way of scholarships.
