EFL teacher professional development in classroom assessment literacy

Abstract
This study aims to design and implement a 12-week professional development program for a group of secondary school English language teachers in China. The focus of the program is the provision of “just-in-time, job-embedded assistance” (Guskey & Yoon, 2009) for the on-going and on-site development of teacher assessment literacy. Baseline data are collected at the beginning of the program. The program takes the form of collaborative action research in which a researcher joins the teachers to form a community of practice for professional development. I believe that this study can contribute to the understanding of classroom assessment literacy and its growth in Chinese secondary schools.
Biography
Jiayi Li is currently a PhD candidate at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. Her research interests include language testing and assessment, language teaching methodology, and teacher education.
