Parliamentary Internship Programme 2022
The newest batch of Parliamentary Interns have been welcomed and inducted, and now are getting stuck into sampling life at parliament.
In 2022, the Victoria University of Wellington internship programme entered its 23rd consecutive year as an established part of the parliamentary environment. The programme is supported by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Parliamentary Service, and is supervised by Professor Stephen Levine.
Many former interns have gone on to work at Parliament and in Ministerial offices, as well as in various Government departments.
In September 2018, Te Herenga Waka University Press released Stardust and Substance: The New Zealand General Election of 2017, edited by Professor Levine. The book’s 46 contributors include nine former interns from 2017 and 2018.
The 2022 group likewise is expected to gain insight not only into Parliament and its processes, but also into the dynamics of election campaigns waged by MPs seeking a further term in Parliament.
Students interested in the Parliamentary Internship Programme are encouraged to consult the POLS 428 entry on the University's course finder for further information. If you're interested in taking part in the programme, contact the organiser, Professor Stephen Levine (stephen.levine@vuw.ac.nz).
