Philosophy looks at the big questions—questions about things like the difference between right and wrong, what time is, whether there is a God, whether machines can think and whether human decisions are truly free.
You'll explore the nature of argument and justification and examine the rational basis of belief. Find out about the foundations of science, psychology, politics, mathematics, and art. Learn about the history of philosophy and the way that great philosophers of the past have thought about life and the nature of reality—from the ancient Greeks to the present day.
You'll talk about big ethical and moral questions, question the existence of truth and reality, and learn to use the tools of logic to analyse arguments and test them for validity.
Philosophy is one of those great subjects where you can follow your nose and see where it takes you.

Wellington is at the heart of New Zealand's creative and political life, with a multitude of libraries and cultural institutions like Te Papa and the City Gallery. It's a compact city, so you can walk everywhere—whether you're visiting Parliament, going out for a drink or heading to the waterfront on a beautiful Wellington day.
My favourite thing about Wellington is how communal and vibrant the city is. There’s always lots to do, and everything is very accessible since it’s a close and compact place.
