Trapped in a lift

Know who to contact if you are trapped in a lift, or if you are outside a lift and notice people trapped inside.

• Press the emergency button.
• Using the lift phone, ring the number displayed. If the phone does not work, continue ringing the bell until someone outside the lift hears you.
• If you have a mobile phone contact Campus Security on (04) 463 9999 or (0800 842 8888)
• Remain calm and help to keep others calm.

If you observe a malfunction from outside of the lift

• Dial Campus Security on Ext 8888 (0800 842 8888) or (04) 463 9999 from a mobile phone.
• If the people inside the lift can hear you, let them know that help is on the way.
