The impact of losing power
Before conducting disruptive work that may result in a loss of power, please consider the following potential impacts on the University:
- Limit the University’s ability to respond to an emergency
- Loss of IT systems
- Loss of lighting will impede emergency egress
- Critical plant and equipment, including specialised laboratory equipment may be damaged during an outage (if not powered down in advance)
- Severely limit the ability to conduct University business
- If the disruption is for an extended period (planned or unplanned), key facilities may require shutting down
- Retailers may have to close
- Creates additional burden on Campus Security without electronic means to manage access to buildings and critical locations
- Heating and ventilation will be unavailable
