The Voice of Māori and Pasifika Students: Cultivating Cultural Capital HEALTH: Oral Narratives (Ali Leota) 200-level Health course: For this assignment, Ali looked at how growing the Pasifika midwifery workforce can improve maternal care experiences whilst mitigating health inequities experienced by Pasifika women and their families. This assignment was guided by the Samoan value of tautua (service), ‘o le ala i le pule o le tautua’ (the pathway to leadership is through service). This series of educational videos has been created to inspire New Zealand's Māori and Pasifika tertiary education students – showcasing actual student assignments that have embraced cultural frameworks. Join us as we journey into the world of risk taking, colouring outside the lines, creative experimentation, and storytelling. This online seminar has been made for educational purposes ONLY and NOT for commercial use. All reasonable effort has been made to select images, video footage and sounds that are publicly available online. We would like to gratefully acknowledge all images, videos and sounds used in this seminar. If any additional acknowledgments or permissions are needed, please do not hesitate to contact the seminar organisers as soon as possible. Email contact: daniel.brown@vuw.ac.nz
