Adela Černigoj
PhD in Health Psychology: Re-acculturation: Individual, intergroup and cultural determinants of re-entry stress
Profile
Adela Černigoj is a full-time doctoral candidate within the School of Health. Her doctoral research examines stress during re-entry adaptation, “the process of readjusting, re-acculturating, and re-assimilating into one’s own home environment after living in a different culture for a significant period of time” (Gaw, 2000, p. 83-84)) from a cross-cultural psychological perspective. Along with individual and intergroup factors such as personality, intergroup attitudes and others, this research also examines the role of heritage cultural values and experience of re-entry stress. With this research she wants to understand which factors can predict greater re-entry stress and how this stress can be prevented and/or reduced.
