400—He Tapu Te  Whare Tangata—HPV primary testing pathways

This project is a sub-study of ‘He Tapu Te Whare Tangata: a model for empowering rural solutions’, a Kaupapa Māori project which involved the offer of a Human Papillomavirus (HPV) self-test, to improve timely access to cervical screening, diagnosis, and treatment.

We are looking for a summer student to be involved in conducting a pathway audit to explore how the HPV primary testing pathway was implemented. The student will be located at Te Tātai Hauora o Hine (National Centre for Women’s Health Research Aotearoa) with clinic visits in Wairoa, and East Coast Tairāwhiti as required, working with the study team including Professor Bev Lawton, Senior Research Fellows Dr E Jane MacDonald, Dr Melanie Gibson, Francesca Storey and Research Assistant Kia Paasi. Data will be analysed using descriptive statistics and audited against the national guidelines.

Findings will be presented to community and Māori health organisations involved in the parent-study and a paper prepared for publication.
