New Zealand Dictionary Centre
The New Zealand Dictionary Centre was established in July 1997 by Victoria University of Wellington and Oxford University Press with the purposes of:
- maintaining and developing a database of New Zealand English vocabulary
- conducting research on various aspects of language in New Zealand
- compiling and publishing dictionaries and related educational materials
Its aims were to provide a focal point nationally and internationally for New Zealand lexicography.
The New Zealand Dictionary Centre was a joint venture of Victoria University of Wellington and Oxford University Press, located within the School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies
The NZ Dictionary Centre ceased active operations after the retirement of its second Director, Dr Dianne Bardsley, in 2012.
