Ferrier Deputy Director, Phillip Rendle joins Biotech Executive Council
Ferrier Research Institute Deputy Director, Dr Phillip Rendle, has been appointed to the Executive Council of BiotechNZ representing Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.

Previously known as NZBIO, BioTech New Zealand (BioTechNZ) joined the New Zealand Tech Alliance in July 2018. Their vision is to maximise New Zealand’s bioscience and technology capability to create a strong New Zealand bioeconomy.
Dr Rendle is one of the two members representing New Zealand universities.
As a first task, Dr Rendle was at the two-day Life Sciences Summit 2024 representing both Ferrier and BiotechNZ, together with some of our Institute researchers and Wellington Univentures staff. He also led the Innovation and Discovery Tour of Malaghan Institute of Medical Research and the Gracefield Innovation Quarter (including Ferrier and GlycoSyn) on the day following the Summit.
Dr Rendle expressed, “It is great to be part of the oversight of this membership-funded group to help raise awareness of biotechnology in New Zealand and what it can offer when it operates in the right regulatory and infrastructure environment.”
