Dr Farah Lamiable-Oulaidi: finding lifesaving cures for rare diseases

Dr Farah Lamiable-Oulaidi is one of Wellington UniVentures newest researchers accepted into KiwiNet's Emerging Innovator programme.

Dr. Farah Lamiable-Oulaidi, a researcher at the Ferrier Research Institute, is part of KiwiNet's Emerging Innovator programme. Her team is developing treatments for rare diseases, such as Krabbe disease, a fatal neurological condition. With $2 million in Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) funding, they aim to create new therapeutic molecules. Dr. Lamiable-Oulaidi is also focused on commercialising her research to bring lifesaving drugs to market, improving patient outcomes, and advancing New Zealand's biotech sector.
